Facebook hits 1 million active advertisers

FacebookFacebook now has one million active advertisers on the social network, according to a statement put out by the company.
“Since the day I joined the team I have been privileged to work with and most importantly learn from a range of marketers who come to Facebook to build solutions that will ultimately grow their business,” said Carolyn Everson, VP of global marketing solutions at Facebook. “I love seeing the collaboration between our teams and watching solutions spring from marketer goals and user behaviour.

“It is truly remarkable that more than one billon people are connected by one single platform and this is only the beginning.”
The world’s largest social network now has 1.1 billion users globally but it is unclear exactly how active they are. A report from Global Web Index in January this year pegged the number of active users at 693 million, compared to 343 million for Google+ and 288 million for Twitter.

It should be noted that Global Web Index does not study accounts from under-16s and over-65s, and at the time it listed the total number of Facebook accounts in that bracket at 903 million.
