Broadband provider iiNet has opened a corporate store underneath the company’s headquarters in Subiaco, Perth.
Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy, will be on hand to officially launch the store later today. He will be joined by Heather Henderson, Mayor of Subiaco, for the festivities.
One of the purposes of the iiStore (besides selling iiNet products), is to educate the public on the capabilities of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
“More and more people are coming to understand what the NBN can do for them. The hands-on experience the iiStore provides clearly demonstrates the benefits of the NBN in the home and for business,” Senator Conroy said in a statement.
The internet provider plans to use the store as a launching point for new product releases, starting with Piix, a virtual photo frame (sent via email or MMS) which will be launched at the same time as the store.
“iiNet has been growing steadily and when the space became available, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to expand, offer greater interaction for our customers and at the same time put something back into this very special community in which we do business,” said Michael Malone, CEO of iiNet, in a statement.
The new store can be found at 502 Hay Street, Subiaco, Perth.

I have been a happy iinet client for nearly 14 years. I am really looking forward to visiting the store today. I have enjoyed shopping at the Apple store recently and was wishing that iinet had something similar. Now my wishes have come true. I have recently moved all my Telstra phone services to an iinet Combo. My only complaint is that I just spent $900 on an iPhone 5 at the Apple store and iinet tell me I have to wait until early November for a nano sim card. That is very disappointing as all the other carriers have nano sim cards in stock but I would like to wish Michael and the rest of the team every success for the future. Regards Bill Rose.
I visited the store this morning. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff who solved the three problems I had which telephone support had been unable to fix. 1. Telephone support said early November for a nano sim card for my iPhone5. At the store they had cards in stock and set up my phone immediately. 2. Have been trying to access my home line message bank from my mobile by dialling 125102. If your mobile is with iinet you must dial 1800 135 102. This is not very clear in the phone user guide. 3. I have poor mobile coverage in my house with the optus service that iinet use. They told me they will soon have a home based device to solve this problem. Three out of three iinet. Thank you for opening a store where we can talk to staff face to face.
