Energise Enterprise: key events

Energise Enterprise, Victoria’s Small Business Festival, will be taking place across the garden state in August 2010.

The festival aims to provide inspiration and ideas on all things to do with creating and running a successful small business.

Energise Enterprise incorporates over 350 events; the following is a brief summary of some of the key events occurring during the festival.

Small Business BIG Marketing: the signature event of Energise Enterprise, SBBM incorporates a host of marketing seminars and a trade-style marketing services exhibition into a half day event that offers enormous networking opportunities for attendees. Keynote speaker for the event is Christian Schultz, a brand and marketing expert who is internationally renowned as a major thought-leader within the branding and communications industry. Also speaking is Rob Hartnett, an internationally acclaimed speaker, an expert in sales performance, and author of Small Business, Big Opportunity, and Million Dollar Selling. Hartnett will be delivering a series of brief, intensive workshops aimed at helping small businesses prepare for the recovery. FTA events will be held in Alexandra, Benalla, Bendigo, Colac, Daylesford, Swan Hill and Traralgon.

Business by Design Market: A new event for the festival this year, the Business by Design Market will showcase displays from some of Melbourne’s top tertiary design faculties and design-based small businesses. The market aims to bring design students and prospective design entrepreneurs together with small business operators already working in the design industry. The market will take place in Federation Square in Melbourne on Friday August 13.

Small Business Speedy Solutions: Throughout the festival, mobile information booths will be set up to display concise videos on vital small business issues and topics. The information booths will appear in Federation Square as part of the Business by Design event, and will then tour Bunnings stores in Victoria throughout the month.

Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo: This event is designed to cater to those looking set up a new business or franchise. Visitors can benefit from free legal, accounting and financial advice, as well as free daily business seminars relevant to both current and prospective franchisees and franchisors. The Expo will be appening between 20-22 of August and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Australian Business & IT Expo: This event is tailored to business owners and managers looking to implement new trends in the world of digital business operation, including cloud computing, online retail and social media marketing. Entry is free, and will provide attendees with access to over 100 exhibitors and seminars, covering a range of categories including marketing, finance and IT. The event will take place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 29–30 July.

Energise Enterprise encompasses B31: Ballarat Business Month. Ballarat will be home to over 25 events throughout August, to showcase business and industry within the region and provide local business owners with opportunities to network, share ideas, develop skills and promote investment in the area.

For those small business owners in states other than Victoria, or who aren’t able to leave work to attend, the festival also incorporates a number of webinars:
