LinkedIn releases job application plugin
Social media network LinkedIn has launched a new plugin for website owners that enables a job application button.
The ‘Apply with LinkedIn’ button loads the web visitors’ LinkedIn (assuming they have a profile) and allows them to submit an application through the social media site.
“In this challenging jobs environment, LinkedIn’s ability to connect talent with opportunity at massive scale is more essential than ever. Apply with LinkedIn is the next phase of our open platform effort and we hope an important catalyst in creating economic opportunity for our members,” said Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn.
The plugin is already up and running for a number of early adopters, such as Netflix, LivingSocial, Photobucket, and TripIt.
“Apply with LinkedIn provides an easy way for job seekers to put their best foot forward when applying for new opportunities and demonstrates a confidence in their professional identity and brand which showcases their acquired skills, experiences and professional connections,” said Deep Nishar, Senior Vice President of products and user experience at LinkedIn.
Nishar also pointed out that companies using the plugin gain access to a network with 100 million members worldwide.
“Members are our top priority at LinkedIn and we are focused on building products that put their needs first,” said Cliff Rosenberg, LinkedIn Managing Director, Australia, and New Zealand.
“Apply with LinkedIn makes the entire process of seeking and qualifying new employment opportunities simpler for professionals, and for employers, it dramatically expands the number of professionals in the consideration set for employment,” added Rosenberg.
